Two months after closing its south side location over a rent dispute, the operators of Don Pedro’s Peruvian Bistro are hitting the road.
Literally.
The restaurant, which ended a five-year run at the Southgate Shopping Center on South Sixth Avenue in early August, is rolling out a food truck.
Owner Peter Gonzvar announced last week on Facebook that he would debut the truck Friday, Oct. 16, at Jácome Plaza Downtown, 101 N. Stone Ave. It will be near the library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We are very excited to start this new chapter of our business. And we want you, our loyal customers to be the first to check out our food truck, exclusive menu, and of course some salsa music,” the posting said.
The menu includes some of Don Pedro’s favorites including Arroz con Mariscos, Anticuchos and Lomo Saltado. Entrées run from $5 to $15.

- 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Tucson Food Truck Rally Food for Horses Foundation event at Jácome Plaza on North Stone Avenue.
- 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Block Party for Jewish History Museum and Mexican Consulate, 564 S. Stone Ave.
- 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Williams Center, 5255 E. Broadway.
- 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Tucson Free Flight Film Festival at The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway.
- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Cultural Awareness Day at Centpatico, 333 E. Wetmore Road.
