Women rock, and don’t just take our word for it: see it live.

And you’ll have three opportunities this weekend. We have heading our way a soft rocker, a half-dozen local female rockers spreading the word of empowerment and a veteran country artist often compared to Elvis.

Here’s your weekend roadmap to three concerts that prove women are breaking the glass ceiling when it comes to rock.

  • Friday, Aug. 11: Head over to Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St., to see Virginia alternative rocker Lucy Dacus share an all-ages lineup with Austin, Texas, singer-songwriter Molly Burch and Tucson’s own Americana singer Casey Golden. Doors open at 7 and it’s $10 in advance at ticketfly.com or at the door.
  • Saturday, Aug. 12 : A half-dozen artists are on tap for “Chick Magnet” at 191 Toole, 191 Toole Ave., beginning at 6 p.m. There’s music — the lineup features Tucson and Phoenix-area artists The Rifle, KoleZannka, Malta, bruja & the coyote, Lano, Karima Walker, West Oasis, Hormone and Middle Part — along with feminine-empowering activities including poetry and art dance. It’s an all-ages affair and it’s $5 at the door or through ticketfly.com This is the debut tour for Tucson’s own Walker.
  • Sunday, Aug. 13: Wynonna, the platinum-selling, chart-topping country singer who has long and often been called the “female Elvis,” brings her newest project The Big Noise to the Fox Tucson Theatre, 17 W. Congress St., for a 7 p.m. show. Wynonna & The Big Noise dub the tour “Roots & Revival” and according to early reads, the concert surveys Wynonna’s 33-year career — her solo hits and the songs made famous by her mother-daughter act The Judds — where she’s at now with the band and its new album “Ain’t No Thing!” and where she’s going. That’s a tall order and knowing Wynonna it will be delivered with plenty of humor and genuine warmth. Tickets are $27 to $89 at foxtucsontheatre.ticketforce.com
