Apparently, tickets to country music icon Willie Nelsonâs Jan. 5 show were the gift of choice for fans.
Desert Diamond Casino officials sent word the day after Christmas that every last seat will have a butt in it at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5.
Likely many of those in the casinoâs concert hall at 1100 W. Pima Mine Road had tickets to see Nelson last February when he had to cancel because of illness.
So what are you missing if you didnât unwrap a ticket Christmas morning? All those great Nelson classics, of course â âOn the Road Again,â âGeorgia On My Mind,â âMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys,â âBlue Eyes Crying in the Rainâ â delivered in Nelsonâs softly worn singsong baritone.
And perhaps he might even introduce a new song or two from his 2017 studio album âGodâs Problem Child,â the 72nd in his 60-plus-year career and his first album of new original material in three years.
Our money says heâll sing âHe Wonât Ever Be Gone,â an homage to Nelsonâs longtime friend and collaborator Merle Haggard.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Friday and the show starts at 8. Details: ddcaz.com
