Christopher Cross made history a lifetime ago when he released hisΒ 1979 eponymous debut album.
The record won an impressive five Grammy Awards, including the four most prestigious trophies: Record of the Year (for the single βSailingβ), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also for βSailingβ) and Best New Artist.
That album was arguably the highlight of Cross's 45-year career, although not hardly the extent of it. He followed up with a handful of albums over the decades that charted singles on the adult contemporary charts including "Hey Laura," which was used in the soap opera "General Hospital"; his latest studio record, "Take Me As I Am," came out last year.
But 1979-80 was definitely his unforgettable career year, something Cross relives night after night when he gets on stage. Expect to hear the big hits from "Christopher Cross" β which sold an impressive 5 million-plus copies β including "Never Be the Same," "Ride Like the Wind" and "Sailing" when he plays Desert Diamond Casino Β on July 2.
Tickets start at $20 and go on sale Β May 12.
