Funeral services for the late Tucson blues guitarist Eric Garcia will be held in his native Sells on Thursday, Jan. 5.
The 5 p.m. services at Papago Assembly of God church off Arizona 86 will follow visitation services that run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 5 at South Tucson Community Church of Nazarene, 260 W. 27th St., where Garcia had been a member of the choir while growing up in South Tucson.
Family members said a funeral procession to Sells will start out from the church at the end of the viewing. Anyone who wants to follow the procession to Sells, about 60 miles south of Tucson, is welcome, Garcia's brother Steve Garcia said.
Eric Garcia died Dec. 24 of kidney failure resulting from diabetes. He was 49 years old.
He and Steve Garcia had played in a namesake blues band for years in Tucson. Their last big gig was the 32nd annual Tucson Blues Heritage Festival at Reid Park in October.
