Arizona Friends of Chamber Music are hosting violinist
Elena Urioste and pianist Michael Brown in a recital of works by Mozart, Prokofiev, Ravel and Strauss on Sunday.
The recital is part of the Friends Piano and Friends series, highlighting up-and-coming artists. Urioste fits that bill: whe was recently featured on the cover of Symphony magazine hailing her as an artist to watch. She has been hailed by critics and audiences alike for her lush tone, the nuanced lyricism of her playing, and her commanding stage presence, according to a press release from AFCM.Â
Brown is equally celebrated by critics. The New York Times described him as a "vividly characterized" and "free-spirited" player.
The pair will perform Mozart's Sonata in B flat Major, K 378; Prokofiev's Sonata in F; Ravel's Sonata (Op. posthumous); and Strauss's Sonata.
Sunday's concert begins at 3 p.m. at Leo Rich Theater, 260 S. Church Ave. Admission is $25, $10 for students at the door.
