The big news was delivered by Guthrie's co-anchor Matt Lauer on Thursday's edition of the NBC morning show.
Guthrie, 45, started at NBC in 2007. She served as the network's White House correspondent from 2008 to 2011, when she started hosting the third hour of "Today."
Guthrie has many ties to Tucson. She graduated from Amphitheater High School and the University of Arizona and worked for KVOA Channel 4 before departing in 1999 to attend Georgetown University Law School.
Guthrie and Mike Feldman, a 45-year-old communications strategist, tied the knot in March in Marana, not far from Tucson, her hometown.
Video of the event posted by NBC at the time showed it was at the Ritz-Carlton at Dove Mountain.
