1.ย Their original name was Fighting Sioux. It was โ€œretiredโ€ in 2012 by the NCAA even though 63 percent of voters in North Dakota approved its retention. Fighting Hawks won a name-the-team contest, edging the Nodaks and Roughriders.ย
