E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg brings his jukebox show to Fox Tucson Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Drummer Max Weinberg has a little time on his hands until he’s needed for his full-time gig with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

So what does a drummer do in his off-time?

If you’re Weinberg, who has been with Springsteen since 1974 and slipped a side gig as the band leader for two of Conan O’Brien’s late shows, you get a few buddies together and hit the road.

The result: Max Weinberg’s Jukebox, an interactive experience where Weinberg and his four-piece band take audience requests and play the songs the way the audience wants to hear them played.

So here’s how it works: Weinberg has a video menu of more than 300 songs recalling the glory days of rock and roll from The Dave Clark Five to Roy Orbison to Springsteen classics. (We’re thinking Taylor Swift hits are likely not in the mix, but we could be wrong.)

The crowd gets to yell out their choices — seriously, you scream out your choice. There’s no writing it down on a slip of paper and handing it to the karaoke guy, you just holler out a title and if they hear you, Weinberg and his rotating cast of two guitarists and a bassist play the songs.

The show comes to Fox Tucson Theatre, 17 W. Congress St., on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Weinberg launched his Max Weinberg Jukebox show in 2017. He has a handful of shows booked through mid-December, including one at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix on Dec. 1, before he rejoins Springsteen next spring.

His show Thursday starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $36 through foxtucson.com.

Springsteen’s 2024 tour kicks off March 19 at Phoenix’s Footprint Center. Tickets are $75-$350 through ticketmaster.com.

During an interview on The Tonight Show. Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday host Jimmy asked the musician whether he will team up with the popstar for a gig as they are both heading out on treks of North America early next year" In 2023, you'll be on tour. Taylor Swift is also going to be on tour. There's a theory the two of you will pop into each other's shows from time to time.In response, Bruce explained that he will be attending one of Taylor's concerts, but only because his daughter "will make sure of it".
