An onlooker takes a photo of a life-size gingerbread house unveiled Friday in the lobby of the El Conquistador Tucson hotel. An estimated 1,000 people lined up to tour the house, which took a pastry crew more than 250 hours and 340 pounds of flour, 21 pounds of butter and 550 pounds of powdered sugar to make the 450 gingerbread tiles that form the structure.

Did you know that the Tucson area has not one, but two life-size gingerbread houses on display this holiday season?

The Hilton El Conquistador unveiled their extra-large gingerbread house in the resort lobby earlier this month.

This year's life-size gingerbread house consists of more than 100 pounds of flour, 100 eggs, 350 pounds of powdered sugar, 320 candy canes and other decorations.

You can check out the giant house on display at the hotel's lobby, 10000 N Oracle Rd.

The Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain is also showing off its giant gingerbread house  and this one is big enough to eat in.

The house — which is made with 400 pounds of flour, 100 pounds of ginger powder, 50 pounds of cinnamon, 250 eggs and 10 pounds of nutmeg — seats six.

But actually eating inside the gingerbread house will cost you. It's a $200-$250 fee plus the cost of the meal. However, if you want to just check it out, viewing is complimentary.

Check it out: The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, 15000 North Secret Springs Drive. Call for reservations, 520-572-3000.
