The city's Veterans' Affairs Committee will host its annual Four Chaplains Memorial Service 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 to honor four World War II chaplains who gave up their life jackets after their ship the U.S. Army Transport Dorchester was torpedoed Feb. 3, 1943.
The free program at Kino Veterans Memorial Park, 2805 E. Ajo Way, will honor the sacrifice of Lt. Clark Poling of the Dutch Reformed Church, the rabbi Lt. Alexander Goode, Lt. George Fox of the Methodist Church and Roman Catholic priest Lt. John Washington, according to press materials.
Chaplains from the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System will participate.
