Barriers along washes

Metal barriers have been installed at the entrances to some washes along roads in Tucson Mountain Park west of the city to keep drivers from driving up washes and causing environmental damage These barriers are along Gates Pass Road about a half-mile east of Kinney Road.

The Arizona Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Arizona will host the lecture “Israel’s Shared Borders and Shared Waters: Water as a Bridge and a Barrier” 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at the UA Hillel Foundation, 1245 E. Second St.

Sharon B. Megdal is a UA professor and director of the UA’s Water Resources Research Center. She also serves on the Central Arizona Water Conservation District board of directors representing Pima County. Megdal will discuss how Israel has addressed the scarcity of freshwater and how that could be applied here, according to press materials.
