The J — the Tucson Jewish Community Center —and Tucson Medical Center are hosting a free family wellness festival from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18.
The second annual Family Wellness Festival aims to get the word out about the importance of wellness and to connect people with agencies that support healthy lifestyle choices.
Large pavilions will be set up throughout The J, with each one focusing on on topics such as safety, physical activity, food, literacy, and health and wellness. Each pavilion will have interactive activities for families.
The event will also feature local and international keynote speakers, experts on health and wellness, authors, food exhibitors, a native seed swap and other activities.
New this year is the literacy pavilion, which will include authors, performances by Stories that Soar and an appearance from Curious George from PBS Kids, as well as exhibitor booths from local literacy agencies, including Literacy Connects.
Families can also pick up free stuff. TMC will give away bike helmets for kids — 200 or more — and the Tucson Police Department will give away booster seats.
