If your child needs a bike helmet or a light for his or her bicycle, you can get one for free at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

The City of Tucson Bicycle and Pedestrian Program and Pima Association of Governments, in partnership with Living Streets Alliance, is hosting its "Light the Night" event.

If you're not familiar, Light the Night is a bike light distribution and bicycle safety education campaign.

Tonight's event takes place at the intersection of East Grant Road and North Alvernon Way.

Living Streets Alliance volunteers and staff will be on hand distributing free front and rear light sets to cyclists who are spotted riding without them. A limited number of helmets will be available for kids under the age of 18.

Educational materials on bike safety will be available in English and Spanish.
