The classic candy cane was voted as the favorite Christmas candy in seven U.S. states, making it the third most popular holiday treat. Pez and M&M's tied for first place.
Whether it's candy canes to hang on trees, gum drops to decorate gingerbread houses, or a variety of other sweets to fill stockings, there will likely be a lot of candy floating around homes over the next few weeks — $1.93 billion worth of it, to be specific.
But out of the multitude of Christmas treats available, what's everyone's favorite? The answer to that depends on where you live, and it varies from classics like candy canes to novelty items like Pez and Santa-shaped chocolates.
Bulk candy dealer CandyStore.com polled more than 50,000 customers to determine what candy is the favorite in each U.S. state. Coming in first in eight states each, Pez and M&M's tied as the most frequent favorite. Candy canes came in second by placing first in seven states.
