The C. J. Farringtons found that life in a mobile home suited them after having lived in a larger home. The ease of maintenance made the smaller home ideal and they liked the neighborhood of Solana Y Sombra Trailer Home Estates on East Grant Road. The home was photographed by the Tucson Citizen in June, 1965.

Bottle glass doors conceal storage areas in the living room of the C. J. Farringtons' mobile home at Solana Y Sombra Trailer Home Estates on East Grant Road. The 10-foot-wide trailer expands to 17 feet so the living room is 17-by-18 feet. Little chair in foreground is a copy of a Nantucket chair and Mrs. Farrington who likes to knit bought it especially for that purpose since it has no arms to get in her way. Large mirror over the shelves not only makes the living room seem even larger but also conceals the kitchen which is off the dining and living area.

About 35% of Tucson's mobile homes were built before 1976, when new federal standards kicked in requiring better insulation, which is a reason lower-income, mobile home residents are often particularly hard hit by our increasingly hot weather.
