Stillhouse Grill and Bar completely remodeled an old Irish Pub that occupied the space for years into a bright and airy place with a variety of beers of tap.

The Stillhouse Bar and Grill is no speakeasy.

It does serve moonshine cocktails, the light fixtures are made of mason jars and a genuine still is displayed behind the bar.

A complete remodel from the Irish Pub that occupied the space for years has transformed the spot at 9155 E. Tanque Verde Road into a bright and airy place with an inviting patio where families would feel right at home.

“It’s been really great. It’s been a very welcoming crowd — a lot of people seem very excited about what we’ve done with the place,” said Carrie Bernal, who owns Stillhouse with her mom, Diane Davis.

The moonshine theme came from her dad’s longtime interest in the history surrounding it. The still behind the bar belonged to her dad, Monty Davis, who died a little more than a year ago.

“When he passed away we came up with the idea to do this,” Bernal said. “It was something he really enjoyed reading about.”

The menu is focused on American fare — burgers, wings and salads, along with appetizers. In addition to its variety of cocktails, Bernal said Stillhouse uses a splash of moonshine in some of the glazes.

Stillhouse also has a variety of craft beers on tap. It opened on Feb. 6, just before Arizona Beer Week, which stretched Feb. 12-21. As part of that, Stillhouse hosted a beer night sponsored by Mudshark Brewery from Lake Havasu.

“We’re trying to bring something a little different to the east side,” said Bernal, who also wants to establish live local music — acts like Jay Faircloth, Drew Cooper and Tesoro — on Fridays and Saturdays.

Stillhouse is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays; and Fridays and Saturdays until midnight.

Stillhouse Grill and Bar has a Facebook page (facebook.com/stillhousegrillandbar) and is fine-tuning its website.
