Photos: Tucson's funky modernistic architecture
Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation is presenting "Tucson Modernism Week" Oct. 2-10. ( https://tucsonmod.com/ ) Here are some examples we found of modernistic architecture. The Bank of America building (formerly Western Savings Bank) at 2080 W. Broadway is architect Jim Gresham's least favorite building design that he says he has produced. He feels the UA Integrative Learning Center Project is his best work.

Tucson Architectural Landmarks Nominations nominated Catalina High School, 1835 N. Dodge Ave., as an example of Post-World War II Modern architecture â an honest expression of contemporary materials, including steel, glass and concrete, without any decorative references to historic styles.

The former Supreme Cleaners (now Finishmaster) building at 2332 N. Stone Ave. on August 19, 2009 in Tucson, Ariz. This was one of the 50 modern buildings named by a local preservation group that is significant enough to be preserved. This late 40s home designed by Architect William Wlde features a self-shading sloped south facade as its defining character. The sloped window wall is supported by V shaped posts and lined with cabinets and bookshelves for storage. The home was featured in Architectural Forum in 1948.
