Markkanen was named the United States Basketball Writers Association national player of the week Tuesday, a day after he was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for leading the Wildcats to wins at USC and UCLA. Markkanen averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 63.6 percent from the field over the two games.Β
