After he won his 200th game as Arizona’s coach on Friday at Cal, Sean Miller was asked if that was just a number.

It wasn’t.

“Anytime as a coach, when you hit one of those it” means something, Miller said. “I know a lot of guys answer the question like it doesn’t, but being a college basketball coach isn’t easy, especially in this his day and age when one season to the next so many things can change.”

In Miller’s case, since his hiring in 2009, he spent several seasons rebuilding the Wildcats and the most recent ones reloading while his best players turned pro early.

“I thought about Cal a year ago, a year later they have a very good team – but they had to lose a lottery pick (Jaylen Brown) and those guys don’t grow on trees,” Miller said, in continuing his answer. “So Arizona is a fantastic place to coach and I’m lucky to be their coach.”
