Research professor joins UA department 

Tomas Nuño has joined the University of Arizona department of emergency medicine as research assistant professor.

Nuño will provide research support for department faculty members, serve as associate director of ScholarQuest, and establish a research program “centered on the reduction of cardiovascular health disparities in emergency medicine populations, including racial and ethnic minorities and rural populations,” UA said in a news release.

He received a master’s degree in economics at the UA and a doctorate in epidemiology from the UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.

In 2012, Nuño won a three-year grant from the National Cancer Institute’s Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities. He has received numerous national awards.
