She brings more than 10 years of experience in nonprofit communications, resource development, public relations, and program evaluation. She most recently directed the Reading Seed program at Literacy Connects and co-chaired the Tucson Festival of Books’ marketing committee from 2012 to 2015.

At Literacy Connects, McKinney increased the number of students receiving literacy support services in Title I elementary schools over fivefold, she said in a news release.
