Casino hires new general counsel

Casino Del Sol Resort has namedΒ Amanda Sampson LomayesvaΒ general counsel. She previously served two years as the chief judge for the Hopi Tribe, and was attorney general for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.

Lomayesva has successfully argued at the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court.

She was the State Bar appointee to the board of DNA Legal Services, where she served as board president. She is a member of the State Bar’s Indian Law Section Executive Committee and was recently selected as a Flinn-Brown Fellow in the 2015 cohort for the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership.

Lomayesva received a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of California Berkeley and a juris doctorate and M.A. in American Indian studies, both from UCLA.
