One of the famous cases in which forensic anthropologist Walter Birkby was involved was the 1984 murder of Vicki Lynne Hoskinson.
In the TV-documentary series "Forensic Files," Birkby explains how he identified her remains but that he was unable to determine the cause of her death. (You can see his analysis at about the 4-minute mark in the attached YouTube video.)
Frank Jarvis Atwood was convicted of kidnapping and murdering 8-year-old Hoskinson. He was sentenced to die in May 1987 and remains on Death Row in Arizona. Last month, his bid for resentencing was denied.
