Three people escaped from a burning mobile home on the city’s south side late Saturday night, officials say.

A man living in the mobile home in the 5300 block of South Park Avenue was playing video games about 11 p.m. when he heard a “load bang” outside. He saw the flames and felt a wave of heat when he opened the door to investigate the noise, the Tucson Fire Department  said in a news release.

The man tried unsuccessfully to douse the flames with buckets of water.

The man, two other residents and a hamster were outside when firefighters arrived about four minutes after being dispatched.

The home was destroyed by the fire, but crews were able to keep it from spreading to other homes, Capt. Barrett Baker said in the news release.

One resident was treated at the scene for blisters on his hands.

The fire was the second at the trailer park in a week. Fire officials said they are unrelated.
