Five suspects were detained in connection with a threat made against a Sunnyside Unified School District school.

Tucson police officers served a warrant at a residence near South 12th Avenue and West Nebraska Street, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a police spokeswoman.Β

The STAR Academic Center campus at 5093 S. Liberty Ave. was shut down Monday after receiving a Facebook threat Sunday night. The post said bombs and gunmen would be at the school Monday morning if $1,000 was not paid.Β

Police searched the campus and did not find any explosives, said Mary Veres, a district spokeswoman. The school was closed Monday as a precautionary measure.

There is increased surveillance of the area from Sunnyside security personnel and Tucson police, she said.Β

"We want our kids and families to trust that we're doing everything we can to keep our campuses secure," Veres said.Β
