A 41-year-old man has been indicted on numerous charges in connection with an officer involved shooting in September in Oro Valley.

Stephen H. Stribling, who was shot by an Oro Valley officer, was indicted Oct. 15 on two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, one count of second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, one narcotic drug selling charge and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana for sale, according to the Oro Valley Police Department.

Oro Valley police said the shooting occurred at a residence following a traffic stop.

At about 10 a.m. Sept. 29, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of West Hardy Road and North Northern Ave., authorities said.

The driver was pulled over, but he fled during the stop, entering a nearby residential area, said OVPD spokeswoman, Lt. Kara Riley. The man was the only occupant of the vehicle. During the search, the suspect was located in the area of the 9000 block of North Morning View Drive and taken into custody, Riley said.

Evidence found on the suspect and in the vehicle indicated the sale and trafficking of narcotics and led officers to a residence in the area of North Shadow Mountain Drive, for which they obtained a warrant.

During the service of the warrant, another man at the residence confronted officers with a gun and fired at them, Riley said.

One officer returned fire, striking Stribling, who was transported to a hospital.

No officers were injured during the confrontation, Riley said.
