A 48-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the theft of barrel cacti in the Dove Mountain area.
Guillermo Murguia, of Tucson, was cited and released for one count of theft, said Sgt. Chris Warren, a Marana Police Department spokesman.
Detectives were continuing the investigation, and additional charges could be filed, Warren said.
Murguia is an ironworker who does landscaping on the side, said Warren.Â
Tips provided to 88-CRIME and information from others led to Murguia who police located at his house in the 7800 block of East Mary Drive Wednesday night, Warren said.
The neighborhood is south of East Golf Links Road and west of South Pantano Road.
The department said that on Jan. 23, eight barrel cacti were reported stolen in the Dove Mountain area.
The man who stole the cacti and his truck were photographed by a hunting camera that had been installed in the area by the property owners.
A total of 22 cacti have been stolen over the past several weeks, said Warren. The cacti had a value of about $1,300.
