Two men were arrested in connection with installing skimming devices on a Chase Bank ATM southwest of the city.

Balerio Jesus Torres, 39, and Pedro Alejandro Ojeda-Moreno, 30, each face 29 counts of illegal use of a skimming device, 29 counts of identity theft and one count each of aggravated identity theft, said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Torres, along with two other men, also are facing charges involving skimming devices in a Tucson Police Department case, Inglett said.

On Jan. 6, deputies responded to Chase Bank, 2920 W. Valencia Road, to a report of two men installing skimming devices on an ATM, said Inglett. Deputies were provided with their descriptions and conducted surveillance at the bank.

A few hours after installing the devices the suspects returned to remove them. Deputies approached the men and the men ran, and deputies chased them and captured them, said Inglett.

He said the investigation led to search warrants being served on a vehicle and storage unit. Investigators did not release what the searches found.

The department's fraud unit detectives are working closely with the U.S. Secret Service in the case.

Inglett said anyone who uses an ATM needs to report to the bank if the machine appears askew or loose, or if the machine is not functioning normally.

He also said customers should report to the bank or law enforcement anyone who appears suspicious near the machine.
