A female University of Arizona student was sexually assaulted at knifepoint on campus early this morning, authorities said.

At about 1:30 a.m., a man initiated a brief conversation with the victim, then brandished a knife and sexually assaulted her near the Koffler Building at North Highland Avenue and West University Boulevard, according to a news release from UAPD.

The victim was able to escape when the suspect was distracted by people walking in the area, the release said.

The only description of the suspect available is that he was wearing a bandana over his face. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
