Drug dog sniffs out coke, meth, heroin

A drug-sniffing dog found meth, coke and heroin Thursday in a car trying to enter Arizona at the Nogales port of entry.

Luis Alberto Chavez-Felix, 21, of Nogales, Sonora, was selected for a secondary inspection as he drove across the border in his Nissan sedan, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

After a Customs and Border Protection dog alerted to the presence of narcotics, officers found about $344,000 worth of methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine in the rocker arms of the sedan.

The stash consisted of nearly 19 pounds of heroin worth $263,000; more than six pounds of cocaine, valued at about $65,000; and more than five pounds of meth, worth about $16,000.

Officers seized the car and the drugs and referred Chavez to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
