A rollover on Interstate 10 Sunday night killed a daughter and injured her mother and brother.

The Northwest Fire District responded to the westbound freeway at Cortaro Farms Road after receiving reports of a rollover at about 9:22 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found a small SUV with extensive damage, said Capt. Adam Goldberg, the district spokesman, in a news release.

The vehicle came to a rest between the westbound travel lane of I-10 and the exit ramp after rolling over several times, he said. Two of the three family members in the vehicle were ejected.Β

Two females, a mother and a daughter, were in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The son sustained minor injuries. All three were taken to the University of Arizona Medical Center for treatment.

After arriving at the hospital, one of the female patients, 16-year-old daughter Christlyn R. Martinez of Phoenix, was pronounced dead.

Her 38-year-old mother, Irma Martinez, remains in critical condition and her brother is in stable condition.Β
