Border officers busted a man Sunday trying to smuggle $255,000 worth of heroin across the Arizona border.

Victor Adan Esparza-Arballo, 24, of Nogales, Sonora, was driving a BMW sedan across the Dennis DeConcini crossing when a drug-sniffing dog alerted to narcotics in the car, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman said in a news release.

Officers found more than 18 pounds of heroin hidden in the back seat.

The car and drugs were seized and Esparza was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
