Drug dogs sniffed out more than $77,000 worth of pot Monday that a Phoenix man was trying to smuggle in to the U.S., a border official said.

Noe Ortiz, 49, and a Phoenix woman who was a passenger in the Dodge pickup truck, were detained Monday at the Lukeville port of entry after a narcotics detection dog alerted to their vehicle, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

A search of the truck turned up more than 155 pounds of marijuana hidden in the truck’s

“center hump and firewall.”

Ortiz was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. The passenger was released.
