Drug dogs sniffed out more than $77,000 worth of pot Monday that a Phoenix man was trying to smuggle in to the U.S., a border official said.

Noe Ortiz, 49, and a Phoenix woman who was a passenger in the Dodge pickup truck, were detained Monday at the Lukeville port of entry after a narcotics detection dog alerted to their vehicle, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

A search of the truck turned up more than 155 pounds of marijuana hidden in the truckโ€™s

โ€œcenter hump and firewall.โ€

Ortiz was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcementโ€™s Homeland Security Investigations. The passenger was released.
