A Yuma man was arrested Monday at the Port of San Luis trying to smuggle more than 30 pounds of cocaine into the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers detained Sergio Romero, 56, after a narcotics detection dog alerted to 12 packages of cocaine hidden in the floor of his Ford pickup truck, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The drugs had a street value of more than $317,000.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle, and referred Romero to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
