For those who love animals, local nonprofits are planning a Valentine’s Day InFURmation Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Scarritt Group Office, 7630 N. Oracle Rd.
The free event, which is spearheaded by the Southern Arizona Animal Food Bank (SAAFB) and the Scarritt Foundation, will feature more than 26 animal welfare organizations that provide resources, products and services for pet owners.
“It has been a dream of mine to join forces and get everyone together to show the good that all of these groups are doing for animals in our community. There has never been an event like this,” said Donna DeConcini, founder of the SAAFB.
She is excited to partner with the Scarritt Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting animal companions of the unhoused, providing critical veterinary care to pets whose families are facing financial hardship and supporting nonprofits that rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals.
“It is a relatively new foundation that people are learning about, but they are mighty. They are helping rescue and protect animals. This is a win-win-win situation. It is a win for the Scarritt Foundation, for the Southern Arizona Animal Food Bank and for the public,” DeConcini said.
She emphasized that the upcoming event will offer a plethora of information and resources about vaccinations, neutering and spaying, pet adoption, dog training, pet food and nutrition, assistance for injured animals found on the streets and much more.
Participating organizations include Tucson Action Team; Sol Dog Lodge; Sunbright Wellness; First Order Compound Pharmacy; Valley Fever Center for Excellence at the University of Arizona Medical School; Happy Trails Travel, Inc.; Southern Arizona Cat Rescue; Animal Experts; Tucson Dog Magazine; Kindred Spirits; Dog and Donuts; A Loyal Companion; The Dog Whisperer; Dogtopia; Best Friends Forever; Animal Soul Connection and more.
“If you are looking to adopt an animal, you can find help with what dog might be good for you. If you are 70-year-old who has an animal and you need to go to the hospital, you can learn about Sol Dog Lodge, which will take animals during hospitalization or incarceration. . .so many questions can be answered and so much information will be available at this event,” DeConcini said.
Attendees can also enjoy food trucks and music by DJ Barbara from “GOT Music.”
