Expect record crowd

Country Thunder in Florence saw crowds of about 30,000 people each day of the four-day concert, according to estimates provided to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities made 16 arrests during the four-day Country Thunder 2018 music festival.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office reported no major incidents during the festival, which was held Thursday through Sunday near Florence, according to a news release from the agency.

Deputies responded to 227 calls in the concert and campground area.

The emergency calls ranged from medical issues, disorderly conduct, fights and assaults.

The 16 arrested were facing the following charges (some faced multiple charges):

  • 1 narcotics possession
  • 7 disorderly conduct
  • 4 assault
  • 1 criminal damage
  • 1 resisting arrest
  • 1 misconduct involving weapons
  • 1 hit and run, with injury
  • 1 liquor violation
  • 2 warrants

Deputies also conducted DUI patrol outside the event and made 481 traffic stops during the festival. Deputies made 15 DUI-related arrests in those stops.
