A number of organizations throughout Tucson β other than the smartphone-powered UberEats and GrubHub β deliver meals to the doorsteps of seniors.
Among them:
Pima Council on Agingβs Pima Meals on Wheels.Β The program, which is affiliated with the Catholic Social Services and Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, offers meals with low fat and low salt ingredients to those over 60 who have no other way of obtaining healthy meals. As an example, meals include southwest chicken salad, honey mustard chicken cutlets, and turkey burgers. For information about Meals on Wheels, call 790-7262.
Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona. The organization provides healthy meals five days a week to seniors in the Tucson, Sahuarita, and Green Valley areas. The organization has been active for more than 47 years, according to their website. Call 622-1600 to reach them.
Interfaith Community Services Mobile Meals. According to their website, the program caters to special diets and aims to βmaintain or restore health.β Call 297-6049 for more information about the program.
Thirteen recreation centers also serve meals to seniors, though they donβt deliver.
