The Screamery

The Screamery's ice cream nachos, $5, have Cherry Cobbler and chocolate Triple Play ice cream, hot fudge and sugary "wet walnuts" on top.

Over the past few years, Tucson's dessert scene has really taken off, with ice cream parlors and bakeries popping up all across town.

There's no shortage of variety and when faced with a choice of where to satisfy that sweet tooth, it can even be difficult to make a decision.

Thankfully, the kind staff at USA Today's 10Best have come up with a list to help make that decision a little easier.

The list is a blend of old and new, with some longtime Tucson favorites joining the mix.

Both Chocolate Iguana and Cafe Marcel have been Fourth Avenue staples for years, and 10Best says they're not to be missed.

If baked goods are your thing, Dolce Pastello Cakes is probably right up your alley, 10Best says.

"Aside from an impressive selection of cakes – including cakes sold by the slice – Dolce Pastello also sells handmade Mexican sweets and tamales," the website says.

There are also several ice cream parlors on the list, including The Screamery, which now has four locations scattered across Tucson.

"As you may have gathered from the shop's name, this is a great destination for homemade ice cream, which is made on-site and doesn't use any artificial ingredients," 10Best says. "You'll find all the classic flavors, but the shop's selection of madcap modern blends are what make The Screamery such a, well, scream."

Check out the full list here and treat yourself to something sweet this weekend.
