What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Last week’s recipient: Xiao Glahn.

Nominated by: Sruti Bandlamuri and Zoe Sommerville.

Why: For her work supporting and advancing women’s rights. Glahn is a technical director at The Outpatient Project, which focuses on women’s health issues. She has interviewed countless women from around the country about important topics in women’s health. Her passion for women’s rights have fueled her deep involvement with Teen Court, HOSA and the National Honor Society. She’s lived in Tucson for only three years and has been interning for a year at the University of Arizona Leadership in NeuroDevelopmental Disorders program. She has spent time working with autistic children and has touched the lives of many women, including helping some deal with mental-health struggles. She exudes kindness, compassion, is a good listener and valued friend to many, the nominators wrote in their recommendation letter.
