Here are some Thanksgiving week holiday meal events scheduled for the Tucson area:
β’ Free community Thanksgiving meal and Promotora program
When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23.
Where: Armory Park Center, 221 S. 6th Ave.
Cost: Free; includes dinner, resource fair, entertainment and raffles.
The event is sponsored by Cenpatico Integrated Care, PPEP Inc. and the Promotora de la Communidad (volunteer community health advisers). Donations and volunteers are needed. For more information call Mary Ornelas at 437-1188.
β’ The 17th Annual Ceci and Pepe BarrΓ³n Thanksgiving in the Barrio
When: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24
Where: El Pueblo Neighborhood Center, 101 W. Irvington Road.
Cost: Free.
The Southside Coalition needs food donations, grocery gift certificates and money to provide Thanksgiving meals for 2,000 people in South Tucson. For more information call 336-8466.
β’ Gospel Rescue Mission 27th annual Thanksgiving Street Banquet
When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Where: On the barricaded street in front of the menβs shelter, 312 W. 28th St.
Cost: Free.
More than 3,000 meals are expected to be served at this event.
β’ The 31st Annual Salvation Army Community Thanksgiving Dinner
When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26
Where: St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1145 E. Fort Lowell Road.
Cost: Free
The Salvation Army needs food donations. Donations can be dropped at The Salvation Army, 1001 N. Richey Blvd.; and The Hospitality House, 1002 N. Main Ave. Cash contributions can be mailed to 1002 N.
