A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the apparent poisoning of several wild animals on Tucson's east side, Arizona Game and Fish said in a news release.

The case began in January when several animals in the area were found dead along the Pantano Wash between South Houghton Road and East Old Spanish Trail, the release said.

So far there have been 51 coyotes, four javelina, three domestic dogs and a raven found dead in the area, the release said.

“If you are using poisons for pest control, you may only do so on your own property, and in the manner specified on the product packaging,” Dave Daniels, a Game and Fish regional supervisor, said in the release. “While the apparent poisonings of the pets and wildlife may be inadvertent, we are investigating this as a possible criminal violation, nonetheless.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the department’s Operation Game Thief Hotline at 800-352-0700, Calls are anonymous. Callers should reference case OGT#25-000176.
