The Tucson Jewish Community Center and the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona are hosting a prayer vigil Monday night following a mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue.
The Tree of Life Candlelight Vigil will be held Monday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at the sculpture garden at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road.
The multi-faith vigil will include prayer for the Pittsburgh Jewish community, those impacted by the shooting, and will honor the victims who lost their lives, according to the JCC.
The shooting on Saturday left 11 dead, six wounded and is believed to be the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history.
The Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona released a statement on Sunday, “Our community is heartbroken by the horrific shooting at Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh. We are experiencing deep loss and sorrow as we process the gravity of the events that occurred.”
You can find more information about the vigil on Facebook, or contact Bryan Davis at the Jewish History Museum at 520-670-9073 or the Federation at 520-577-9393.
There will also be a vigil from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Stage on the UA Mall. Click here for more information.
