A long-time lawyer in the the Pima County Attorneyâs Office who went missing Tuesday while fly fishing near Sedona has been found dead, officials say.
Chris Straub, 64, the head of the the public records unit for the office, was with his wife at a resort near Sedona, when he went fly fishing nearby Tuesday afternoon and was reported missing that evening when he did not return, according a news release.
The Coconino County Sheriffâs Office Search and Rescue Team found Straubâs body about 12:30 Wednesday afternoon in thick overgrowth near the resort.
It appears he suffered a fatal accident, but an autopsy will be conducted, a news release from the Pima County Attorneyâs Office said.
Straub worked in the County Attorneyâs Office since 1990.
âOur thoughts and condolences are with Chrisâ family and everyone who loved him,â Pima County Attorney Laura Conover said in a prepared statement.
âThis is devastating news. Chris was a lovely man who ably and wisely advised the Board of Supervisors as the chief civil deputy for more than eight years,â Sharon Bronson, chair of the Pima County Board of Supervisors said in a written statement Wednesday afternoon. âHe and I shared a love for the outdoors, and we would often discuss our most recent adventures before board meetings.â
Ryan Air Field rose from the desert in just months in 1942, after the U.S. entrance into World War II. It closed in Sept. 1944, after training 6,000 pilots.
