With the holiday season officially here, many Tucsonans are feeling the spirit of giving. In fact, a few weeks ago, Travelocity named our city one of the "most giving" in the U.S.

But Wallethub has some new information, suggesting that Arizona as a whole might not be so giving.

"In the spirit of inspiring altruism" the personal financial website ranked all 50 states in order of how charitable they are by comparing them across 13 metrics, the Nov. 28 article said.

Data collected include the state's volunteer rate, percentage of income donated and percentage of sheltered homeless, among other factors.

When all the dust settled, Arizona came in dead last, with an overall score of 42.80 (Utah came in first with a score of 68.20.) But on the bright side, Wallethub's metrics determined that we're only 35th when it comes to the volunteer and service rank.

Arizona also fell into the bottom five states in number of charities per capita and percent of the population that claims to donate time.

Check out the whole article here and tell us in the comments what you do to be charitable. We know that Tucson wasn't named one of the 25 most giving cities for nothing!
