Katherine Barnes, Sergio Puig, and Suzanne M. Rabe were among the signatures of law professors who have signed a letter opposing Brett Kavanaugh.

Three professors at the University of Arizona law school are listed among more than 1,700 colleagues at colleges across the country urging the rejection of Brett Kavanaugh to a post on the Supreme Court in a letter published in the New York Times.

Nine professors from Arizona State University also signed the letter.

“Judge Brett Kavanaugh displayed a lack of judicial temperament that would be disqualifying for any court, and certainly for elevation to the highest court of this land,” the letter published Wednesday reads.

Among the long list of law professors signing the letter is Sergio Puig, an associate professor at the UA’s James E. Rogers College of Law; Suzanne M. Rabe, a clinical professor of law; and Katherine Barnes, professor of law.

A short bio about Puig says he also is the director of the International Economic Law and Policy Program.

The bio for Barnes says she is also the associate dean for Programs and Innovation, an associate professor of economics, and the director of the Rogers Program on Law and Society.

“We have differing views about the other qualifications of Judge Kavanaugh. But we are united, as professors of law and scholars of judicial institutions, in believing that he did not display the impartiality and judicial temperament requisite to sit on the highest court of our land,” the letter continues.

A note at the end of the Times letter says signees included the universities where they work “for identification purposes only.”
