More than 20 firefighters were dispatched to fight a garage fire on Tucson’s north side Sunday morning.
Dispatchers received a call of smoke and fire coming from the back of a home in the 1600 block of West Higgins Lane, north of the West Prince Road, just before 10 a.m., according to a news release from Tucson Fire.
The first TFD unit on the scene discovered a garage on the property billowing smoke. The garage was not attached to the house.
While the house appeared empty, the garage was packed with contents that hindered firefighter access, the release said.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire within six minutes after removing the garage doors. No injuries were reported.
Neighbors told firefighters that they didn’t know if anyone lived at the residence, but that they had often seen someone working on it.
