What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”
Last week’s recipient: Haydon Cardone.
Nominated by: Janet R. Kepner.
Why: For the kindness this young student shows toward her peers and others. The fourth-grader does not shy away from spending time with children who are younger and those with special needs. She has a family friend with a son with autism and another friend with a son who stutters. She treats them with patience and kindness and includes them in playtime with all of her friends, Kepner wrote in her nomination letter. “Haydon is such a nice young lady with lovely manners, respect for teachers and parents alike,” Kepner wrote. She serves on the student council at school, plays in the school band and is involved in the Girls on the Run program. She helps out at PTSO fundraisers, even offering to clean up after events without being asked. “Haydon is an amazing, lovely girl with a very kind heart,” Kepner wrote.
