If you happen to drive past what appears to be a major emergency today, don’t panic.

More than 25 local and state agencies will be conducting public safety emergency drills throughout the day, officials said.

The Pima County Office of Emergency Management, along with dozens of other agencies, will be creating realistic scenarios in Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita and the University of Arizona, county spokesman, Patrick McNamara, said in a recent news release.

The event is intended to help agencies assess their preparedness and ability to handle simultaneous and large-scale emergencies.

There may be increased and realistic activity on police scanners and emergency vehicles responding to the training events.

All of the participating agencies will still be available to respond to actual emergencies.

The agencies and office of emergency management will be posting on social media when training exercises are underway.

Updates will also be posted on the county’s emergency alerts page, emergencyalerts.pima.gov
