Police say a teenage girl was seriously injured after she was hit by a car in midtown Tucson Monday morning.

The girl was hit at the intersection of Grant Road and Alvernon Way before 7 a.m., said Officer Ray Smith, a Tucson Police Department spokesman. The crash closed the intersection for several hours.

Police say the girl was in a crosswalk with a light, but she walked against the light when she didn't have the right-of-way. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation.

No other information was available at this time.
